The paper is about "religious education" in public primary schools, controversy in Brazil based in the literal forecast of the constitutional rule. Although optional registration, general law on education and the agreement settled by the Brazilian state with the Holy See are being confronted in the Supreme Court, based on the principle of the secular state. It is concluded that the interfaith model does not violate the Constitution and even the confessional (since there is no excessive involvement of the State) can be reconciled, respecting basic constitutional values.
